Everything you'd like to know, before you order.
A short guide to how we book, bake, and box your treats. If anything's still on your mind, please write — we'd love to hear from you.
Our orders are custom & made by hand — here's how it all works.
Booking & Deposits
How a date is reservedHow do I reserve my date?
A 50-75% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm and secure your order date. Your date isn't held until that deposit has been paid.
Until then, it's a kind hold — lovely intentions, but not yet on the calendar.
How long do I have to pay the invoice?
Invoices must be paid within 24 hours of being sent. If the deposit isn't paid within that window, your date may be released and the order may be cancelled.
When is the remaining balance due?
The remaining 25-50% is due at pickup, unless we've agreed to something different in writing beforehand.
How far in advance should I book?
We're a small home-based bakeshop, so dates fill quickly — especially around holidays and weekend events. A two to four week lead time is preferred for custom orders; rush requests are taken case by case when the calendar allows.
Pricing
How we quote your orderHow is pricing determined?
Because every order is custom, final pricing is based on the design, quantity, complexity, and details you'd like. Menu pricing is a starting point and is subject to change.
Is my quoted price locked in?
Yes — final pricing is determined and locked in at the time of booking, when the deposit is received. After that, the only changes to the total come from additions you request, not menu shifts.
Changes, Cancellations & Rescheduling
If life happensCan I make changes to my order after I've paid the deposit?
Because each order is custom-made, we typically do not allow refunds, cancellations, reschedules, or changes once the deposit has been paid.
That said, we understand the unexpected happens — please reach out as soon as you can if something comes up.
What if I need to reschedule?
Customers may be allowed to cancel or reschedule one time, and the deposit may be credited toward a future order with Dipped By Design OC if availability allows.
Deposit credits are not guaranteed and are approved at our discretion based on the timing and details of your order.
What if Dipped By Design has to cancel?
If we ever need to cancel your order for any reason on our end, you'll receive a full refund. No exceptions.
Are all sales really final?
Yes. We work carefully to make treats that match what each customer envisions, but taste and design preferences vary from person to person. Because our treats are custom and perishable, we aren't able to issue refunds once an order has been completed.
Pickup
Where, when, and the small printWhere will pickup take place?
Your pickup location will be shared the day before your scheduled pickup.
What if I'm running late?
A 15-minute grace period is included with every pickup. After that, a $10 late fee applies for every additional 15 minutes.
If you're more than one hour late, we can't guarantee our availability, and your order may be cancelled or forfeited without reimbursement.
What happens if I miss my pickup entirely?
Orders that are not picked up on the agreed-upon date and time may be forfeited without refund or credit. Our business hours and availability vary as a small home-based bakeshop, so a missed pickup can't always be rescheduled.
Care & Handling After Pickup
Keeping your treats picture-perfectWho's responsible for the treats after pickup?
Once an order leaves our kitchen, care, transport, storage, and handling are the customer's responsibility. We're no longer able to be responsible for the treats after pickup.
How should I store and transport my order?
Keep all chocolate, dipped treats, cakes, and baked goods away from heat and direct sunlight. Heat can cause chocolate to melt, treats to shift, cakes to become structurally unstable, and designs to alter.
We'll send care instructions home with your order — please follow them for the best results.
Allergies & Ingredients
An important note for your guestsIs your kitchen allergy-safe?
Dipped By Design OC is not a certified allergy-safe kitchen, and we're unable to guarantee that our products are allergen-free.
Do you offer gluten-free or dairy-free options?
Even gluten-friendly or dairy-friendly items may still carry a risk of cross-contamination. While we do our best to minimize that risk, it can never be completely eliminated.
Who is responsible for informing guests of allergens?
The client is responsible for informing guests of any allergy or cross-contamination risks before the treats are consumed.
Designs & Inspiration Photos
How we work creativelyCan I send inspiration photos?
Please do — inspiration photos are so helpful for understanding your vision. We enjoy having creative freedom with every order and will do our best to capture the theme using the details you provide.
Will my order look exactly like the photo I send?
Inspiration photos of cakes or treats not made by Dipped By Design OC will not be copied exactly. Our work is custom and unique, so the final design may differ.
If you'd like your order to be as close as possible to a reference, we'll do our best to honor the overall look, colors, and theme while still creating an original Dipped By Design piece.
Can you decline a design request?
We reserve the right to decline any order, design request, order change, or additional request at our discretion. We'll always communicate kindly and quickly if something isn't a fit.
Updates to These Policies
Keeping things currentDo these policies ever change?
Dipped By Design OC reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website and will take effect immediately, so this page is always the most current version.
Is Dipped By Design OC liable for damages after pickup?
Dipped By Design OC isn't liable for any direct, indirect, or incidental damages arising out of or related to the use of our products or services.
We also aren't liable for delays or failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our control, including acts of God, natural disasters, emergencies, illness, supply shortages, or other unforeseen events.
